Siren, the renowned South Florida band celebrated for their innovative fusion of melodic rock, progressive, and blues, is excited to announce the release of their latest single and music video, “Dead Beggar.”
The song captures the emotional and societal disconnect inherent in this disparity, with its narrative focusing on the rich man’s isolation within his “Ivory Tower” and the dark irony of wealth’s impact on shared joy.
Rob Phillips, Siren’s lead singer and songwriter, describes “Dead Beggar” as their “Game of Thrones” song, representing the conflict between the establishment and the people: “It became our anthem for the struggle between the haves and the have-nots,” Phillips says. “In our take, the people win for a change, and it’s about time.
”Video producer Isaac Deitz adds that “’Dead Beggar’ explores the stark divide between the wealthy and the impoverished: “The rich man’s “Ivory Tower” symbolizes not just his material wealth but the physical and emotional distance he maintains from the everyday lives of those who walk the city streets below. In the song’s haunting narrative, the rich man’s happiness depends on the misery of others—he views the happiness of a child as a threat to his own fragile sense of fulfillment. The song portrays a world where power suffocates the possibility of shared joy, highlighting the dark irony of wealth’s isolating nature.
““Dead Beggar” was recorded and mixed at Madison Studios in Atlanta, with contributions from engineer Wyatt Oates and guitarist Tanner Hendon.
